Our Name
Our Name — Taotie, the Guardian That Devours Evil
Our name comes from the Taotie (饕餮), a mythical beast of ancient China best known from the stylized animal-face motif cast on bronze vessels of the Shang and Zhou dynasties.
Because it was said to devour anything, the Taotie came to be seen as a creature that consumes evil — a talisman that wards off harm.
We see our work the same way. Our security products stop what threatens your computer and data; our productivity software devours the repetitive tasks that eat up your time. Building software that guards people from harm and waste is what our name stands for.
